Help Find Bane

Bane is a K9 member of the Michigan State Police Canine Unit. He is trained in narcotics detection, tracking, article searches, LPOP, aggression, handler protection and crowd control.

Trooper Jamie Bullis of the Alpena Post became separated from Bane during a Nov. 13 search near Onaway in Presque Isle County.

Bullis has said that Bane became tangled and, when he released his tether, Bane took off after a deer that suddenly jumped out of the brush, according to reports.

Off-duty officers, hunters and other volunteers searched the area on foot and in a helicopter and airplane, reports indicate. Search parties used heat-sensitive binoculars and state police tracking dogs from Houghton Lake and Traverse City.

The situation has drawn interest from around the state, prompting a “Find Bane” page to be created on Facebook and a reward fund to be established.

“The main objective is to get this dog back,” said Warren MacNeill, the volunteer in charge of the reward fund. “This reward might help speed up the process.”

Anyone with information about Bane’s whereabouts should call state police at (989) 354-4101.

Update from earlier today. This is unconfirmed at this time and the hope is that Bane is out there lost but ok:

Another day spent searching the area with no luck. I ran down a few leads about a hunter that may have shot him, but nothing firm. I want to make sure the information is out there…that if he has been shot, PLEASE make a call and let us know where he is. I just want to get him back, and no one is in trouble if this is the case. Thanks again for all the support.

How you can  help

Please help spread the word about Bane in any way possible. You can re-tweet this post, share it on Facebook, email it to friends and family and of course feel free to friend Find Bane on Facebook. The more people that see this the more that can keep their eyes out. It has been almost 10 days that he has been missing which means Bane could be anywhere he could even be in a someones home that thought they were taking in a stray. If you think you have seen him anywhere please help reunite him with his handler and owner.
